If your business runs on Cambium access points, you need to know about something that is happening right now. Cambium Networks entered administration in September 2026, and the ripple effects are already being felt by businesses across South Africa.
The good news is that your hardware is fine. Your access points are not faulty. They do not need to be replaced. But the cloud platform that manages them is at risk, and that is where the problem sits.
Let me explain.
Cambium’s cloud management platform is called cnMaestro. If you have Cambium access points installed at your premises, cnMaestro is what allows them to be centrally managed. It handles your network configuration, your monitoring, your security settings, your guest access, your firmware updates, and your troubleshooting. Without it, your access points become standalone devices. They will still broadcast a signal, but you lose the ability to manage them centrally. No monitoring. No easy configuration changes. No visibility into what is happening across your network. For a small office with one or two access points, that might be manageable. For a business with multiple access points across a site, it is a serious operational problem.
Cambium has advised that its cloud based cnMaestro service for enterprise Wi-Fi devices, which has historically been provided free of charge, is no longer guaranteed beyond 31 October 2026. Once it is withdrawn, your access points could lose central management, monitoring, and configuration at short notice. If the service is withdrawn and no alternative is in place, you could be left with no central visibility over your Wi-Fi network, no ability to make configuration changes across multiple access points, no monitoring or alerts if something goes wrong, and no support path if issues arise.
This is not a hardware failure. It is a platform failure. And it requires a proactive response.
KG Telecommunications has been supporting businesses with Cambium networks for years. We saw this coming, and we have already built the solution. We will deploy a new cloud hosted Cambium controller on our own hosting infrastructure, rather than relying on Cambium’s cloud. Your existing access points continue to work as they always have. Your Wi-Fi settings, including network names, security, and guest access, are moved across. Your network continues to be managed, monitored, and supported by KG Telecommunications. You retain full visibility and control over your Wi-Fi environment.
You do not need to replace your hardware. You do not need to rip out your existing network. You just need to move the management layer to a platform we control.
If you run a business that depends on reliable Wi-Fi, downtime is not an option. Whether you are running a retail store, an office, a warehouse, or a hospitality venue, your team and your customers expect to stay connected. The Cambium administration could have left businesses scrambling for a solution. Instead, KG Telecommunications is proactively moving clients to a stable, managed platform before the deadline hits.
Cambium’s cloud service is no longer guaranteed from 1 October 2026. While the official deadline is 31 October, there is no guarantee that the service will remain stable until then. We recommend moving as soon as possible. The migration is straightforward, and we will schedule the work outside business hours where possible to keep disruption to a minimum.
If you are a KG Telecommunications client with a Cambium network, we will be in contact to arrange your migration. If you have not heard from us yet, or if you have questions, please reach out. We will need confirmation that you would like us to proceed, a contact person to arrange the migration, and a preferred time for the work to be done. We will handle the rest.
There is a once off migration fee and a monthly hosting fee. We have kept these as low as possible and will discuss them with you directly. What matters most is that your network stays up, your settings stay intact, and your business stays connected.
If you have questions about the Cambium situation, or if you want to understand what the migration involves, please get in touch. KG Telecommunications has been supporting South African businesses since 1996. We have seen platform changes before, and we know how to handle them. This is no different.
Your Wi-Fi is in good hands.
